PGPMRT FAQ

1. I have completed BE/BTech in a stream that’s not related to the ones you have listed. Am I eligible for the program?

At present the PGP in Metro & Rail Technology is open only to students from the Core Engineering (CE, ME, EE & EC) streams. Modular programs which also have high industry demand will be scheduled in a couple of months for students and professionals from other streams such as Instrumentation, Production Engineering etc. Students from other streams will be considered

2. I have completed a program that’s equivalent to a BE/BTech. Am I eligible for the program?

Any program which is recognized by Govt. of India and Recognised Universities as equivalent to B.Tech /B.E will be considered for admission to PGPMRT.

3. When are the results expected?

The final selection results for admissions will be announced before July 31, 2017

4. How will I be intimated about the admissions?

Selected students will be informed through e-mail and an Admission Letter will be sent to their mailing address.

5. What documents do I have to produce during admission?

All students who accept to enlist for the program shall be required to produce the following documents at the time of admission in original:

  • Provisional / Final year Mark List
  • Mark list and certificate of 10th & 12th standard or equivalent exam

6. Does IMRT recognize any other exam score for its admission?

Scores of competitive examinations like GATE, CAT, TOEFL, IELTS etc are considered in the final selection process. However, these are optional and not mandatory.

7. I’m still expecting BE results. Can I apply?

Yes. However, your admission will be conditional, subject to submission of your final result before commencement of the program.

1. I’m not comfortable with English as a medium of instruction. Will I get any personal assistance?

The Program will be highly intense and requires students to have good written and verbal communication skills in English. The selection process will also test students’ vocabulary and communication skills.

2. Besides the fees mentioned, will I incur any additional expenses?

All incidental expenses like local conveyance, personal travel, boarding & lodging, printing, photocopying, communication etc. will have to be borne by the students. In addition to this, there may be expenses towards site visits outside Hyderabad and some certification / development courses offered by IMRT associates which have to be incurred by the student. Details shall be shared at the time of admission.

3. Do I need to purchase study material? Will the IMRT library provide me text books?

IMRT will provide handouts and reading material for each course as recommended by the respective faculty. However, if student wishes to purchase reference books, they may do so at their own expense.

4. Can I apply for any scholarships or Fee Waivers?

Need-based and merit oriented scholarships may be arranged for deserving students. These shall be announced during the course of the program at the sole discretion of IMRT.

5. Is the program recognized by the AICTE?

No. The program is not recognized by AICTE, since One Year programs in India do not meet the statutory academic requirements. However, the course curriculum has been developed by experts in consultation with industry and several international universities and institutes of repute.

6. Do the Indian Railways and Metro Projects in various cities recognize PGP?

At present, no. However interactions with the metro projects and other industry stakeholders have been held to ensure that the student is trained to meet industry requirements.

1. What are the various modes of payment for fees?

All fees shall be paid as Demand Draft, drawn in favour of “Integrated Rail Services (P) Ltd.” payable at Hyderabad.

2. Can you help me find an education loan?

IMRT has associated with several educational loan servicing companies and banks. Assistance in obtaining education loans shall be provided in due course of time.

3. Can I pay my fees in instalments?

Fees shall be paid over four instalments during the program, Please Refer Important Dates for the fee payment schedule

4. If unforeseen circumstances force me to withdraw from the program, will I lose my entire course fee?

Fees once paid shall not be reimbursed under any circumstances.

1. Will IMRT help me find accommodation in Hyderabad?

This is a non-residential program. However, we will provide a list of reliable agents / property consultants who can assist outstation students in arranging for an accommodation.

2. Since I’m a female ward who knows no one in Hyderabad, my parents would like to know if IMRT can assign a Teacher Guardian for me?

No. We cannot provide individual guardianship for any student.

3. How are the Canteen facilities for an outstation candidate like me?

The Institute is located at the heart of the city, with easy access to good quality hotels and canteen facilities

4. Does IMRT provide any medical cover?

IMRT does not provide any medical cover. Students have to take appropriate insurance on their own.
